Happy Hour

"IF A LIFETIME CAN BE LIKENED TO A DAY, THEN THIS IS HAPPY HOUR!"

Mother, Mother Ocean

Mother, Mother Ocean, I've heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you, switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hold the treasures, few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream
Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred year's too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

Yoda

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is."
―Yoda, to Luke Skywalker

Counted the Stars

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I'm doin' fine
We used to be so happy once upon a time
Once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line
And the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line

Thoughts update

Seems the folks at the Veterans Choice Program are on the ball. I got a call from them and they are going to accelerate the process concerning the CT Scan.
It will be at an outside facility within a 2 week period......
It doesn't give much relief but it does feel good that something actually works. When I get this appointment I can cancel the one on the 26th of June.
The mind is still going a million miles an hour....

Slippers

I thought I had lost them..................or they were more than likely in a place I forgot about.
It's nice to have them on, with it being one of those rainy and cold winter days in the Mojave Desert.

A Life It's Ownself Post

Went to the family doctor Wednesday about my acute weight loss. 26 pounds in 15 months.
Referrals are being sent to Tricare for a scan from the neck to the groin and a colonoscopy.
I'm due for the scope anyway.
He used the term "tumor hunt" in the conversation.
Trying to deal with that.......

Sort of out of the loop

Sorry for the absence dear readers. September has been a rather strange month. I wound up dealing with some potassium and water pill issues.
I spent the night of 8-9 September in the ER at Palmdale Regional Medical Center after the Lancaster VA Clinic said my potassium was critical.
I think my outside doctor might have it figured out. I am now off the water pills and the potassium supplement.

Generals Say Troops Understand Need for Pay Cuts

Found this little item this morning.
Makes one go Hmmmmmmmmm.
"Personnel officials from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and the Department of Defense met with the House Armed Services' Military Personnel subcommittee to talk about cuts to pay and benefits the Pentagon is proposing for its upcoming budget.
These include a smaller pay raise -- 1 percent raise, an average 5 percent reduction in housing allowances, and higher health care fees for some retirees."
As a resident of a state where the dependent-entitled population is very high, I wonder when and if those things are even being considered for cuts. But then that would cause harm to the voting base of those legislators who like the paychecks and benefits of being the "Ruling Elite."
A lot of us busted our tails for twenty or more years and now we are almost to the point of being second class citizens.
Just the way I see things lately.
More is at the link.

Guest Post: On the Tragedy in Newtown CT

My friend Jennifer Myers Soliz had this one up on her Facebook page this morning.
It's go folks, regardless of your values and belief systems. Just a Mom and her views.

Oh. My. Goodness. Someone make the stupidity stop! I have seen video games, psych drugs, autism, working parents, public school, lack of gun control, and even God blamed for what happened yesterday. Just stop! I know we are all searching for answers after so many children and adults are slaughtered. I get that. It's beyond our abil
ity to comprehend because we are not mass murderers. Folks- I'm not going to pretend to be some philosopher with all the answers. I don't know why God allowed this to happen. I don't have spiritual eyes- I'm still here on earth. I won't see the spiritual forces until I get to the other side. This much I know: I absolutely believe the Bible- for more reasons than I can type with my thumbs on an FB status. That means I believe in unseen angels - some work for Almighty God and some for Satan. I believe in personal choice and responsibility. We choose to be swayed by good or evil. This mass murderer chose evil. Now- feeding young minds a constant diet of violence, sex etcetera is going to make them weaker against those forces, but don't blame music, movies, video games for all of that. They are about supply and demand. If people demand trash and are willing to pay for it, business will supply it. Don't blame psych drugs- some folks have chemical imbalances and they need those meds to live a somewhat normal life. I'm VERY pro natural, but sometimes our bodies need help. Don't blame guns- murders, rapes, robberies happen all the time without guns! I've worked with some criminals as I've walked this strange life of mine. Not a single one of them said they refused to have a gun because the gun was illegal. Funny thing about criminals- they don't seem to obey the law. Smh. And blaming God? I've seen comments that God was allowed in church where kids were molested, Hitler was a Christian, what God are we praying to who would allow this to happen, etc. *sigh* I'm not wanting to get into a long debate (and don't get long winded in the comments about it either as I know a few of you can) or details, but quite simply you either believe Christ died and rose again or you don't. You either believe God loves you (and He does) or you don't. I pray and hope that you do. Message me if you want to talk about it! God doesn't dictate that we follow Him. I believe the murders yesterday were of a person with a depraved heart. I will continue to pray for the first responders, families, loved ones, CT, and our nation. But taking the weapons away from law abiding citizens, meds away from those who need them, and blaming God are not the answers. May God comfort our nation, and may souls seek Him in the midst of this horror.

James Pisano at Google Plus on the election yesterday

Here's what I'm seeing from what happened last night:

1. The American people have spoken. Although I do not believe Conservatism is a minority mentality in America, what is exposed through the evidence from yesterday's election is that Conservatives are not well represented, and thus will not be able to well represent Americans in its political endeavours. This needs to change if America is going to become a powerful leader on the world stage again, instead of a complicit follower.

2. Americans, as a whole, do not understand the damage that has been done to our ability to sustain ourselves as a Nation. We've forgotten what self reliance means, and have traded hard work and dignity in for revenge politics a la Valarie Jarrett, David Axelrod and President Obama. America, to our dismay, has shown that the sensationalism of the dirty political game is what makes them happy.

3. We, as a Nation, are in for a devaluation of the dollar as a world currency. The world, as we know it, will begin to stop trading commodities in our currency and we will begin to see a downward spiral into banana republic status as we continue to try to print our way out of the obligations Keynesian fiscal policies will create for our progeny, and theirs. America will see its credit rating dropped from the As and we will become the biggest Greece this world has ever known. The rest of the world will be forced to cut us off for fear of our failure taking us down with them.

4. Because the House remained in GOP control and the Senate did not change control we will see a perpetual Continuing Resolution built on a 2009 budget baseline that included over $1T in spending that was intended to be temporary. Instead of what President Obama promised in a reduction of our National Debt and reduction of our Deficit Spending we will see at least $5T more added to our debt with $1.3T/yr deficit spending per year until Obama leaves office.

5. There will be continued attacks on the non-governmental institutions that have helped define what it means to be an American. The Constitution will see attack after attack as Justice Ginsburg retires and two more lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court are appointed by President Obama and Harry Reid. These appointments will be divisive, have defined designs on their personal interpretations of the Constitution and what it means in terms of how the Government can control the individual and the individual entity. We will see an increased fervor from those already in our Government for Command and Control governance, where the regulatory state will determine your outcome regardless of the legal ramifications of your actions within your state of residency. If you wish to succeed it will be at the behest of the Government, not because of your desire to do so.

6. Iran will be emboldened by our inability to throw off the shackles of tyranny which bind us to our fate. Ahmadinejad will see this election as akin to what happened in 2009 in Tahrir Square through violence and unproductive demonstration against a totalitarian regime, and recognize our unfulfilled will to oust a dictatorial despot as further evidence that we do not possess the means to prevent him from developing a nuclear device. Iran will reach that goal or Israel will be forced to stop them, and they will have to do so on their own. This will spark the powder keg that is the Middle East into what could very well become the catalyst to WW3. Under President Obama we will not be prepared to protect ourselves or our allies, and we will not be prepared to feed and power ourselves without the rest of the world's resources available for our purchase because the Command and Control state will not allow for continued domestic energy and agricultural development.

7. Because the President and those in the Senate will see their continued status in power as a mandate from the people for them to lead us to their designs of what this Nation should be we will see massive increases in taxes for the wealthy and what is known as the upper middle class. Those who have means will leave this country for nations friendlier to their wealth, and those who do not have means will suffer at the hands of a Nation that does not value their productivity as much as it values punishing it through wealth redistributive measures. Those who are in the so-called middle class will find it harder to succeed, and those who are poor will become poorer still. There will be a rash of selling of stock and a retraction from the market by those who have capital but are unwilling to spend it in anticipation of the increased taxation that will come beginning in 2013 and continue with the implementation of ObamaCare.

We're in for a very rough four years, everyone. If you measure our Nation's success in terms of the unemployment numbers and GDP, both are in store for a respective downturn as those who produce begin to find new markets to move their productive activities into. War will not become a thing of the past, and we will see many more instances where Libya's failures will become the norm.

We have been shown to be the moral minority. That doesn't need to be our death knell, but at present it will be discouraging. Do not despair. When confronted with the truths about Conservatism in the face of the lies of Liberalism and outside of the echo chamber that is the mainstream media, the American People invariably choose the former over the latter. We have to find a way to cleanse the GOP of those less than upstanding examples of who and what we stand for, and better educate those who are willing to listen. Our message is clear, but the minds of those receptive to it are not, and the hearts of those who would co-opt our souls for avarice and power are all too common.

This is not the end, everyone. It is a beginning. Fight Club and the Dogs of War are not dead. Eventually Americans will realize what they've done to themselves. Once they do we will be there to help guide them out of the dark and into the light that is Freedom, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

My two cents starts here.
I freely admit this, I am not very happy with what occurred last night. There have been many reports of improprieties around the country. I think the process was compromised in several locations. I will wait and see if there are proper investigations into such activity. I do have this little bit from a friend of mine in Madera County, California.
"In Madera County, voters were given TWO ballots for POTUS. I know...I vote in Madera Co. THAT is how obama won...double-voting." Pam McKinney.

"ABSOLUTE VOTER FRAUD. Across the board/across the nation. Look toward the union thugs. Remember, the Election Depts in YOUR county are run by government workers, the socialist democrats, the union members. In Madera County where 89% of the population is Mexican (and a LOT of them illegals), they were given TWO ballots. I KNOW. Republican Congressmen had better form an investigative committee and have every single democrat signature checked for legitimacy and then count the signatures against ballots. There WILL be more ballots than signatures." Pam McKinney.

Remember, this is a state that actively supports and coddles illegal aliens over and above the citizens. The Democrats, as they are called, are directly responsible for this. Governor Brown needs to be held accountable as well along with our Attorney General. That individual, Kamala Harris is a Card Carrying Member of the American Communist Party. Nuff said there.

After the shameful manner in which the voting was handled in many locals along with the blind faith of those who voted for a second term for the Current Occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I will no longer give any respect to Barack Obama. To me he is a pretender, usurper and a charlatan.
I am now considering liquidation of assets and heading to Belize.

The unintended consequences are already happening as reflected in the Dow dropping 300 points immediately upon opening of the stock exchange.

The United States of America is no longer the Republic which I served for the best twenty years of my life. It is now a third world septic tank. We allowed UN representatives from other countries to "monitor" our electoral process. Our currency is not what it was at all. Our "leaders" act as if they could care less. I include a number of GOP Senators in this as well.

All of those who voted and enabled the outcome of last night are going to be surprised when things start to fall in on them as a result of their lack of proper judgement.

As for California, the liberals who make up the majority in this once vibrant and productive state have decided, among other things, that a tax hike is in order. Prop 30 was passed along with other dubious measures.
California Ballot Measure Results at this link
Diane Feinstein 'won' her fourth term in the Senate.Term limits seem like a good idea to me.
I guess I am done for now.

A bit too far? I leave that to the readers........

Saw this one at Google+.
Amusing since it is The Daily Mail from Blighty Olde.
The Big Bird business is getting to be a bit over the top.
Kids and Grandkids liked him.
I do think, however that PBS could be self supporting with the sales of stuff from Sesame Street. The show is a money maker for them.
Done
.Don't tell Mitt! The actor who brought Big Bird to life makes $314,000 a year Perched

My friend Dutch has a request

My co worker and friend Walter "Dutch" Thurman has this to pass on.

Can you help my old friend Dawn's son, a deaf Boy Scout, win or at least compete against better organized and funded scouts, sell some popcorn?
>Please help my son Dallas reach his goal! He's earning money to pay for TWO summer camps next summer. Please help him buy purchasing yummy popcorn! Dallas Edens Troop 228 Inland Northwest Council http://www.trails-end.com/ <
Tell her Walter sent you.....

An old friend of hers blew up on her and chastised her and her son for belonging to Boys Scouts because of their stance on gays and has lost out on some sales because of it....do you think you can pass along this info to some of your blogger mates and generate some sales for this kid? Hard enough to be deaf, harder still to have his mom's friend causing his sales to dip for his beliefs...

There you go.............
Do what you can for this kid, please.
ORPO says Thanks.
I will not go down and tell my children I didn't have the courage, the conviction, the commitment or the character to fight for this country...Don't go home and let your children down~~ LTC Allen West
