Slippers

I thought I had lost them..................or they were more than likely in a place I forgot about.
It's nice to have them on, with it being one of those rainy and cold winter days in the Mojave Desert.

Winter.............

Missus ORPO and I ventured down to Lancaster to hit Walmart and WinCo.
The first four I took from Casa de Sharon y Glenn before we left. The others were taken from the 14-138(Avenue D) Junction on the way home. When we hit Mojave, there was snow blowing across the 14.

All but the first four are looking towards the Grapevine. It was closed earlier today. We stopped at the convenience store near the house and the clerk said that the 58 at Tehachapi was closed. I check CalTrans but it said it was still open.
We do have winter in this neck of the woods!

Even though the wind was a pain in the rear, the winter weather looks good......from the desert floor.

Winter in The SE Kern County Desert

It seems that we are in for some heavy weather for the remainder of the day.
The NWS has us looking at winds of up to 75 mph along with rain. Warnings are up for the area highways, 14, 58, 395 and 178.
My trash and recycling containers are behind the fence in the garage side yard.
Going to work tonight should be interesting or just raining. I am glad that I no longer work the line.
I may take some pictures later and post them or not. I see no reason to venture outside at present.

It is now Winter in Southeastern Kern County and the Tehachapi

The Tehachapi and Southern Sierra's had some snow along with other ranges around California City.
I forgot my camera.....................again................................
These were taken with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
It is cold as far as the desert goes. It was around 45 degrees with a strong wind from the Southwest.
I am so glad that I don't crew a jet anymore.

I had to make a run to the grocery store in Mojave earlier today and grabbed these with the smart phone.

Saturday Overtime

Going to work in a while.......
This week is my actual duty weekend. We are in a four section duty. These are old airplanes and they have other than normal systems as they are test air frames.
It is $40.37 an hour.
Later we are going to a friend's for Corn Beef, Cabbage and Green Beer. OK, I will probably not turn my Widmer Pale Ale green..........Something not right about that. Possibly get me some Guinness though. Haven't had any for a while.

The weather here in The High Desert is fixing to go to pot. The system is coming in over the Sierra and Tehachapi Mountains later this morning. Snow levels are forecast to drop to around 3,000 feet. We are at around 2,375. It is possible should it cool enough, for us to get some snow.

The Great Salt Lake-Antelope Island and down to Salt Lake City

After a rather impressive meal at Applebee's in Layton, the Veteran's Day one for free ya know, I went and played tourist.
The camera was with me. Can't help it but I take my little Kodak Z612 with me a lot.
So for your viewing enjoyment........................

Across that causeway is Syracuse, Clearfield, Layton, Ogden and Hill AFB. A lot of  haze on this day.

Through that haze is Salt Lake City. It's there. Really.
