Happy Hour

Mother, Mother Ocean

Mother, Mother Ocean, I've heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you, switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hold the treasures, few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream
Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred year's too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is."
―Yoda, to Luke Skywalker

Counted the Stars

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I'm doin' fine
We used to be so happy once upon a time
Once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line
And the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line

Video: Hey, The Harrier Jump Jet Don't Need No Stinkin' Nose Gear!

At AirPigz.
It has been going around the net for a few days now but I thought, what the heck? It's a Saturday in the Desert and Really Frikkin Hot outside! http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/california-city-ca/93505/weather-forecast/39121_pc

Back to the reason for the post.........That Harrier recovering aboard USS Bataan with out a nose gear down and locked.............
I do believe this still photo shows how the Flight Deck Crew of Bataan improvised a piece of Crash and Salvage equipment to solve a difficult situation.
Go Navy!

Classic American Literature

I read Catch-22 for the first time some 46 years ago. I was in the 8th grade at Kaiserslautern American High School.
The one line in this novel has had an affect on me since then. That was "And Snowden lay dying in back."
To this day, I have no idea why it still does.

A-10s Saved the Day in Botched Afghanistan Raid

Came across this little ditty in the Sunday Morning Surf.
As an Intruder Maintainer, I love the A-10.
I think the Fast and High flying jets have their place but in the Close Support role aircraft such as the A-10 are the best asset we have.

Happy Father's Day

To all the Shipmates, Fellow Lexicans and Followers of this blog I wish all the Fathers out there a Great Day!

USS George H.W. Bush to Move into Arabian Gulf

USS George H.W. Bush to Move into Arabian Gulf
Think the Admin did not realize what could happen when he told the bad guys when we were pulling out?
The World Wonders.

A small vessel transits in front of the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) as it transits the Strait of Hormuz as seen from the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58).

Anniversary at Pismo Beach

I finally have time to load pictures of our day at Pismo Beach. We like the Central Coast. It is more scenic and less crowded than the So Cal Beaches. No Metropolitan areas to deal with.
Good eating establishments are there as well. Motel 6 was a fairly good deal for being out there on the coast.
Good place to go, in our humble opinion.

Thunder on The Lot

AKA, The Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. I took a ton of pics. I will not caption any as I took over 200 on the Nikon D3000.
Just a Sample of the 231 pictures I took.
The 57 Ford Fairlane Flip Top is awesome!

I will not go down and tell my children I didn't have the courage, the conviction, the commitment or the character to fight for this country...Don't go home and let your children down~~ LTC Allen West
