Happy Hour

"IF A LIFETIME CAN BE LIKENED TO A DAY, THEN THIS IS HAPPY HOUR!"
BUCK PENNINGTON

Mother, Mother Ocean

Mother, Mother Ocean, I've heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you, switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hold the treasures, few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream
Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred year's too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

Yoda

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is."
―Yoda, to Luke Skywalker

Counted the Stars

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I'm doin' fine
We used to be so happy once upon a time
Once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line
And the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line

China Lake Air Show

It may have been small but it was good. There was a good crowd as well. I was lucky in that I have disabled person plates on the vehicles..............I was very close to the ADA/VIP entry control point.
I spend more time wandering and looking at the static displays. I did have one disappointment as the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon was moved away from everything......................I really wanted to get a few shots of it but Her Majesty's MoD said no..........................
I wound up using my phone to take pictures because I left the battery for my Nikon in the charger at the house.....Senior Moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So without further ado, here are the few pics I got that are worth posting................

Plane Pr0n of a different sort....................From the Daily Mail.......................

I was a kid when this jet made it's debut. Every 11-13 year old was jealous.........................puberty ya know.......................

"In the late 1960s Hugh Hefner was in his prime and his magazine empire was at its peak with around a quarter of US college men reading Playboy each month.
What else would an extravagant magazine publisher want to do than buy his own giant private jet to live out the A-list lifestyle?
Naming the plane The Big Bunny, Hefner proceeded to transform the $5.5 million (£3.65 million) stretch DC-9 into his dream party jet, with on board showers, a round bed covered in fur and even a disco area for Mile High soirées."

It was even used at the end of The Vietnam War to bring War Orphans to the USA.

This was no normal jet, which was clear from the moment you were greeted by the air hostesses on the tarmac, who wore bunny ears and tails

I love the "no normal jet!"
Barbi Benton was seriously hot..................................................................

B-29 “Doc” Funded For Takeoff

"Doc" is going to fly soon!
If I were still living in Wichita, I would have spent time volunteering on this restoration!
I saw a video of the first engine runs awhile back and it was so amazing to hear those big compound radials come to life!

"Doc, which was one of a squadron of World War II-era airplanes named after Snow White’s seven dwarfs, was rescued from the Mojave Desert in 1987. Doc’s Friends, a non-profit organization, formed in 2013 in Wichita, Kansas, to see the restoration to completion."

Plane Pr0n: These may be the best Mig-21, Mig-29 and Su-25 air-to-air images you’ve ever seen.

Stumbling through the favorites list and look at this!

Last week, aviation photographer Anton Balakchiev was among a group of reporters who were given the really unique chance to take air-to-air photographs of the last operational Bulgarian Air Force MiG-21 Fishbed jets.
The type should be retired at the end of this year after 52 years of active service in BuAF.
There is a plethora of outstanding air to air shots in the post!

Sunday Plane Pr0n, a little Train Pr0n and Such

Mojave to Stater Bros.............................
Cal City Boulevard from a four way stop.........................

After the market, I headed to the Mojave Air and Space Port..................................
At the entrance to the Airport are a Convair 990 Coronado and an F-4 Phantom II that is an empty shell. The Convair was used by NASA in flight research.

I couldn't get square due to the fence I was standing against.

The objects on the Convair's wing tips are lights to keep it visible at night.

Since Mojave is a rail junction and small yard, the obligatory train pics follow!!!!!!!!!!
There is a rolling UP merchandise train out there, trust me.

Wind Turbines everywhere and the signal for West Mojave

The thermometer in the car said it was 106...............................................................Yes, It was Hot!

Saturday in The Desert..................................

.................not to be confused with Saturday in The Park.............................................Cha Cha Cha!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enough of that, OK?
Seems that yours truly had to make a trip to the Stater Bros Market in Mojave and since there is that Mojave Spaceport place there, the Nikon D3000 came along for the ride.

I also got one shot with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 of a Tesla charging at the Tesla Charging Station in the little shopping center in Mojave.

Here is a sampling of today's pictures.
