Happy Hour

Mother, Mother Ocean

Mother, Mother Ocean, I've heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you, switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hold the treasures, few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream
Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred year's too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

Yoda

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is."
―Yoda, to Luke Skywalker

Counted the Stars

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I'm doin' fine
We used to be so happy once upon a time
Once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line
And the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line

18 Months

Tomorrow is the 18 month mark. Of when I had my left kidney removed. The one with the mass on it. Turned out to be cancer after the pathology was done.
The scar is not much more than a line, with some small tuck and roll effects.
It is also the same mark for quitting smoking. Yup. I spent four days in hospital, it was fairly easy to finally do it. But I did have some incentive, as it were.
So thanks go out again to Ann, Buck, kc, Snigs, Jeff, Kath, MUD, Old NFO, Wyatt Earp, Opus 6 and all the rest. For the support and understanding. I will not forget.

I love ya all!

The quitting smoking thing is prolly the best thing ya ever did, Glenn. I wish I'd have quit earlier than I did. Good on ya!

I figured it was the best time to quit.
I no longer have the "want" for a cigarette.
Thanks Buddy!

Glenn, I'm new to your blog, so this is the first I've heard of your health troubles/adventures/whatever.

Yeah, I need to quit smoking myself. I actually quit for 10 years, and took it back up.

Really. I suck. Literally.

Well, I'm an exerciser, and a walker, and an extremely active person on my job(s), so I've never really noticed any breathing problems even though I do puff about half a pack a day.

But, I should really quit for financial reasons. Those things are through the roof. Will I? Maybe. A couple of years ago, I'd have said, "Hell NO!" But, as I look at it from the financial end, and remember back to the days when I was quit (how I felt physically), I think I just might give 'er a rip. Again.

Thanks for this post...given me some good grass for chewing.

And, oh yeah, bestest wishes for no more cancer junk. NEVER!
