Happy Hour

"IF A LIFETIME CAN BE LIKENED TO A DAY, THEN THIS IS HAPPY HOUR!"

Mother, Mother Ocean

Mother, Mother Ocean, I've heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you, switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hold the treasures, few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream
Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred year's too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

Yoda

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is."
―Yoda, to Luke Skywalker

Counted the Stars

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I'm doin' fine
We used to be so happy once upon a time
Once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line
And the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line

Flu. Sucks.

I feel horrible! Started on Thursday. Nagging low grade fever. Then chills. This morning went and got donuts for the Missus ORPO and me. Had two twists. Made a pot of coffee here at the Casa de Sharon y Glenn in Cal City. Had one cup.
Chills. Felt like I was in a cold locker. Then wringing wet. Sleep awhile, wake up, sleep a little, wake up wringing wet.
And so it goes.

Get to feeling better soon, Glenn!

I really think "Tylenol Severe Cold and Flu" helps. DON'T go to work tomorrow!

Should be at about 80 percent by tomorrow. Ten of that is the hernia. Still having fever and chills alternately but less intense.

Hi: found your blog again after my computer went dead on me and lost all the bookmarks.
Anyway, where you stationed at NAS Lemoore? What units were you in and what work centers were you working and at what time?
I was in the navy between 1970--1990. You must have gone in after Nam was done.

Crucis,
I will let you know. But I am now entering the apprehension part of the process. Got the Pre Op stuff on Friday in Bakersfield. Then on the Third of November, under the knife I go.

Ah, I'd forgotten the date---thought you'd already had it done.

Mine went well with little pain afterward. Yours is a bit different though.

We'll keep praying for you and that it'll all go well and without complications.

I'm so glad to see there's people other than me keeping my brother in their prayers. Thanks, y'all!

I will not go down and tell my children I didn't have the courage, the conviction, the commitment or the character to fight for this country...Don't go home and let your children down~~ LTC Allen West
