Beer and Cigar Blogging

I haven't done this in a long time.........................
The situation is now remedied.............................
After I fueled the Titan at the Edwards AFB Shopette, I went inside to get a few things and lo and behold, they had a small variety of decent cigars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After getting home to Casa de Sharon y Glenn, I spent a little time on the front verandah as Buck would say.

I also got a sort of decent shot of the half moon in a bright blue desert sky!

Another New Flavour from Stone Brewing

I picked this up in Stater Bros in Ridgecrest the other day.
I got it on the deal that I save the bottle. Missus ORPO likes the Stone bottles because those bottles are stenciled with paint vice a paper label.
Nice flavor, excellent hoppiness and a very good aroma.
Since I am watching The Ducks and Stars play hockey.............I figured why not?!
I think I have to get a bottle/glass cutter for the Missus so she can do crafty stuff with it and the Bastard In The Rye that I enjoyed on my 60th Birthday. The post is in the archives here.

It does look mighty fine in that Figueroa Mountain Slender Pilsener Glass!!!!!!!!
I also give a toast to my departed friend, Buck Pennington.............................

Tonight's Flavour For The New Year

This was on the shelf in a gas station/convenience store in Paso Robles on our way back home from Monterey this past Sunday.
It is so very good!

Missus ORPO got me some Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA on Friday and I picked up some semi good cigars at the local convenience store.
I am enjoying both as this is typed.........................

I managed to get to the FasTrip Convenience Store after work at about 0145................
Missus ORPO needed smokes and lo and behold, they had Stone Arrogant Bastard in the 22 ounce bottles.
Needless to say, I did procure a couple of them...................
The Glass was obtained at the Cost Plus World Market in Beautiful Northwest Bakersfield........
It also demanded the enjoyment of a decent See Gar....................

BTW, Wednesday is my Regular Day Off.

Went to the Rite Aid to get Missus ORPO's prescription and this was in the cooler and even on sale!!!!!!!!!
It is pretty good for a lager like this...................

The opener is that standard box lunch issue one!!!!!

Missus ORPO and I did some galavanting around today.................
We went up to Cambria and out on Moonstone State Beach.......................................You read that right folks.................Moonstone. Californijuanastan, ya know.

Then we went to Tap It Brewing in San Luis Obispo.....The Barrelhouse is from our stop in Paso Robles on Friday. Central Coast Craft Beer is Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Central Coast

We are at Vandenberg AFB VQ for the long weekend. It was time to get out of Dodge, ya know.
The required stop at Firestone Walker resulted in a full growler of Wookey Jack Black Rye IPA. The Blue Retired ID netted a discount of $5.00 off of the $27.95 regular fill price. They give a wicked discount to The Armed Forces Of The United States. If you ever get to Paso Robles, California, do stop by and find a flavour that you will surely enjoy.
About one and one-half miles to the south of this fine establishment is another one we discovered, Barrelhouse Brewing is another in the plethora of Central Coast Craft Breweries that I have come to enjoy and Missus ORPO loves the glass ware available at all of them.
Tonight's fare is the Wookey Jack as we relax a bit from the trip. Missus ORPO is out like a light. Yours truly is bringing you some pictures of the Wookey Jack................
When I set my growler on the bar, all I said was "Wookey" and viola, it was magically filled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this while doing my usual Sunday Surfing.....................Sad news at such a
young age. I lost an Uncle to a heart attack when he was 36.
I loved the Miller High Life Commercials he made and The Suite Life On Deck. He was a really funny guy.

President's Day at Pismo Beach

We like the Central Coast, A Lot.
Vandenberg AFB has a very good VQ for 60 Bucks a night. Lodging in Pismo Beach is very expensive on holiday weekends.
The Civic makes traveling to here and about the various places we like very easy at 35 mpg..............
