Happy Hour

Mother, Mother Ocean

Mother, Mother Ocean, I've heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all
Watched the men who rode you, switch from sails to steam
In your belly you hold the treasures, few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream
Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred year's too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

Yoda

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is."
―Yoda, to Luke Skywalker

Counted the Stars

Counted the stars on the 4th of July
Wishing we were rockets bursting in the sky
Talking about redemption and leaving things behind
I have these pictures and I keep these photographs
To remind me of a time
These pictures and these photographs
Let me know I'm doin' fine
We used to be so happy once upon a time
Once upon a time
But the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line
And the sun sank west of the Mendocino County Line

Six Months Here

Tomorrow is the six month mark as a civil service crew chief here at Edwards AFB. Wow! It has gone by fairly fast. Half way through a lease on a house!
I got me a COLA raise already and should be getting a step two one shortly. That will put me well above what I was making in the Aircraft Industry in Wichita and even with the ballast train salary. And I still miss being out there on the trains but c'est le vie! Or is it Le Guerre!
Since I had the interesting times following the discovery on the 4th of September, I have made new friends and acquaintances via this blogging thing.........Fun. Lot's of fun. I got the first chance at Parrothead Jeff and Friends when along with Kath, Jeff took as on as authors on his blog. Things degenerated from there(joke!) To all who have been along for this ride, I thank you for all the support, prayers, laughs and candor you have given me.
Special to Jeff, Kath, kc(kid sister), Buck, MUD and all of my followers. Couldn't have done it with out y'all!

But at least I'm enjoying the Ride!"

It always makes me wonder. If we are all on this train together, is there truly followers? May you always be full of things to write about and many more years of writing. The get the hell home and out of Kalifornia... The heartland may not be where my heart is, but my butt is here forever.

Unfortunately, Kalifornia is where the paycheck is.

Raises are good, continued good health and new experiences are better. Keep on keepin' on, Glenn!

How the Air Force has changed. When I was in (1969-1976), no civilian got within 20' of a fighter or bomber except when on display. Towards the end of my active duty at Richards-Gebaur AFB south of KC, we did have some civilians providing POL to our Reserve C130s and transients but no one could dig into the innards of a bird unless he wore a bluesuit.

I'm not sure I'd care much for the modern AF.

BTW, welcome to following my blog.

I will not go down and tell my children I didn't have the courage, the conviction, the commitment or the character to fight for this country...Don't go home and let your children down~~ LTC Allen West
