Mojave 6-27-15

I had to make a run to the Mojave-Rosamond Landfill today to get rid of the treadmill that took a powder and some fans that also bit the dust.

It was a mostly overcast day for a while. I should have hauled my camera...................These were taken with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Elaborate, $2.6 million model aircraft carrier donated to Naval Academy

Donated Model Aircraft Carrier

Some of The Lexicans had this linked all over Facebook Monday and Tuesday. It is now the wee hours of my Regular Day Off and I am enjoying Red Eye and Firestone Walker 805...............It seemed like a good idea for a post....................

"The 84-year-old craftsman, who made his first model from cardboard in the late 1930s, has donated to the Naval Academy his magnum opus: a 12-foot, 3,600-pound, brass model of the USS Forrestal."

This is one really bitchin machine! The Stuff Works on it!
Having served on two Forrestal Class Ships, this one is kinda special.

Perhaps OldAFSarge, Christopher Goodrich will get some pictures should he venture down the Atlantic Seaboard to The Trade School on The Severn.............................
More outstanding pictures and the full story at the link below.

The Front Yard

The landlord of Casa de Sharon y Glenn decided to go drought compatible.
This is the result. He also owns the house next door.
I had to pull out my flower boxes, though.

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson set to launch his own airline

Wow!

I admit that I do listen to Iron Maiden from time to time and was aware that Bruce Dickinson was a commercial pilot.

I wish his new venture all the best!

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, 56, is taking on pilots and crew after purchasing a Boeing 737

11 vials

They took 11 vials of blood from me today.
I had an appointment with a neurologist today at the VA Hospital in Los Angeles for my carpal tunnel................
He took an interest in my neuropathy as well.
Prediabetic is the term being used.............................
I know my A1C is good as of January when I had my annual physical.
I am probably going to go through a bunch of nerve conduction tests and some other stuff that aI can't pronounce, much less spell.

Rare Airplane at California City Municipal Airport.

Missus ORPO and I went to dinner at Foxy's Restaurant at the airport this evening. Lo and behold, amongst the four Fouga Magisters that call L71 home was this rare and unique airplane.......

I have only seen pictures of these before today. I had to do a search of the type to get the basic info after getting a look at the right vertical stab and rudder.

Mandolin Slicer 1-Glenn's Thumb 0

Lack of attention for a moment........................
Piece of thumb accounted for...........................

Arrogant Bastard in an Arrogant Bastard Glass

I managed to get to the FasTrip Convenience Store after work at about 0145................
Missus ORPO needed smokes and lo and behold, they had Stone Arrogant Bastard in the 22 ounce bottles.
Needless to say, I did procure a couple of them...................
The Glass was obtained at the Cost Plus World Market in Beautiful Northwest Bakersfield........
It also demanded the enjoyment of a decent See Gar....................
On the right table in my "office."
BTW, Wednesday is my Regular Day Off.
