Earthquake in Nor Cal
The mighty hand of Mother Nature struck in the wee hours this morning up in the Wine Country of California.
I got up about an hour or so and when checking my usual stuff, saw a short bit on it online from an acquaintance.......
6.0, with some healthy after shocks. One of those was a 3.6.
So far there are 3 people reported to have serious injuries. Major damage in Sonoma and Napa.

There will be updates all day. I have KTLA on right now.
Positive Waves and as Buck Pennington says, I hope the Diety at Hand has interest in all these folks recovering from the quake.

Beer Blogging from Sandy Eggo
Missus ORPO and I journeyed to Sandy Eggo for a small gathering of some Lexicans at Shakespeare's tomorrow evening.
This evening after fighting the football game traffic on the 15, the 163 and the 8, we checked into our room at Motel 6 Hotel Circle North and then took off to Anthony's Fish Grotto for dinner. I had the good fortune to eat at this establishment when I graduated from Boot Camp at RTC Sandy Eggo in December of 1973 at the tender age of 19...........Go ahead and do the math..............
After we finished up, we headed to a convenience store to pick up the Missus some smokes and I picked up a six pack of Stone Pale Ale.......I didn't realize that they made a Pale Ale!
Quite tasty indeed......................................
I will have the Trusty Nikon D3000 with me tomorrow and pictures will be uploaded upon our return home to Cal City.

Mr. and Mrs. ORPO
I have decided to post a couple of pics of the two of us all dressed up at the Niece's Wedding on 20 July.
Yes, I am wearing an ear ring, a sterling silver dream catcher to be precise. It goes well with the shaved head................................
BTW, I took extra time and care when I shaved my head that morning. Missus ORPO got a new hair colour as well.
Yes, Buck, I wore a tie and a purple shirt. Both items were OK'd by the Niece early that morning..................The Niece won...........it was her day.

Inventories of war: soldiers' kit from 1066 to 2014
Found on Facebook courtesy of Arthur Barie, proprietor of Bring the heat, Bring the Stupid.
On a winter’s day in 1915 the family of one Capt Charles Sorley – athlete, soldier and poet – received a package. It was his kit bag, sent home by his regiment from the Western Front, where Sorley had been killed, aged 20, at the Battle of Loos. Out of this bag came a life abridged: personal effects, items of uniform and a bundle of papers, from which emerged his now famous sonnet When You See Millions of the Mouthless Dead. A new photographic survey of military kits now illustrates that curious combination. The photographer Thom Atkinson has recorded 13 military kits for his ‘Soldiers Inventories’ series.
1916 private soldier, Battle of the Somme
While the First World War was the first modern war, as the Somme kit illustrates, it was also primitive. Along with his gas mask a private would be issued with a spiked ‘trench club’ – almost identical to medieval weapons.

1815 private soldier, Battle of Waterloo
Kit issued to soldiers fighting in the Battle of Waterloo included a pewter tankard and a draughts set.
