"Cmdr. Samuel Tanner was executive officer of Strike Fighter Squadron 34, based at Naval Air Station Oceana, Va. The firing decision came immediately after non-judicial punishment proceedings, a Navy news release stated. Capt. Christopher Murdoch, the commander of Carrier Air Wing 2, made the decision to fire Tanner, who has been temporarily assigned to the staff of Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic."

I do believe that Commander Tanner's career is pretty much in the toilet.

  1. I am really surprised by the lack of common sense when this happens.
A loss to the Navy and its investment in the officer and a loss to the individual and his naval career after 15 years.

  2. Agreed on that Jim.
I work for the Air Force and the Retired and prior Air Force guys I work with are amazed by the numbers of COs/XOs/SEAs that the Navy relieves.
