Down & Out: Abandoned Airfields, Airports & Airplanes

Found this one on FB this morning, while on hold with the Department of Veterans Affairs........
One is of a place that those of you of time in the Air Force may or not recognize. The First Missus ORPO had a cousin who did a tour on Johnston Island.

  1. Your link was most interesting and hit kinda close to home. Most of the radar sites at which I was stationed during my AF career have been abandoned or turned over to the FAA (in part, like ONE radar tower; the rest of the facilities having been left to rot). I've been back to a few of those sites since I retired and walking around the ruins is depressing.

  2. Seeing the same with my career. Ships gone, Air Stations closed, Squadrons decommissioned and aircraft in the bone yard at DM.
