Winter in The SE Kern County Desert

It seems that we are in for some heavy weather for the remainder of the day.
The NWS has us looking at winds of up to 75 mph along with rain. Warnings are up for the area highways, 14, 58, 395 and 178.
My trash and recycling containers are behind the fence in the garage side yard.
Going to work tonight should be interesting or just raining. I am glad that I no longer work the line.
I may take some pictures later and post them or not. I see no reason to venture outside at present.

Another New Flavour from Stone Brewing

I picked this up in Stater Bros in Ridgecrest the other day.
I got it on the deal that I save the bottle. Missus ORPO likes the Stone bottles because those bottles are stenciled with paint vice a paper label.
Nice flavor, excellent hoppiness and a very good aroma.
Since I am watching The Ducks and Stars play hockey.............I figured why not?!
I think I have to get a bottle/glass cutter for the Missus so she can do crafty stuff with it and the Bastard In The Rye that I enjoyed on my 60th Birthday. The post is in the archives here.

It does look mighty fine in that Figueroa Mountain Slender Pilsener Glass!!!!!!!!
I also give a toast to my departed friend, Buck Pennington.............................
I sure do miss him........................

Being absent lately

I have had a bit of a rough week. Even after almost three months on the graveyard, I am still adjusting. I sometimes had all I could do to finish a beer after arriving home and getting my lunch box taken care of.
The nasty head and upper respiratory cold had me on the ropes for awhile along with the issues with my feet and lower legs, I haven't had a lot of get up and go. It seems like it got up and hopped a fast westbound freight train.....
I called out sick last night after spending my Thursday after work hacking like crazy. It was enough to make my brain feel like it was in a can on a paint mixer..........................................Not a lot of fun, I assure you.
I guess it was easier to play on Facebook and Google Plus.....................

I am watching an episode of Impossible Engineering about the development, manufacturing and capabilities of the Airbus A380.

The LA County Airshow is coming up in March at General William Fox Field in Lancaster. I think the Nikon and I are going to attend. I may even scrounge up a used wheel chair so I don't abuse my feet. I still have the limitations in place for not a lot of walking. The organizers have already confirmed the Blue Angels for the upcoming show. Due to the large attendance, I will probably head home when the Blues walk to their jets. The 14 Freeway will be a nightmare after the show ends each day. I will give a Hat Tip to the LA County Sheriff's Department and the CHP for their excellent management of the traffic.

I guess that is about all. I just wanted all to know I am still around..........................
There will be some Craft/Micro Brew posts coming this weekend as I have a few new flavors to sample here at Casa de Sharon y Glenn.

It is now Winter in Southeastern Kern County and the Tehachapi

The Tehachapi and Southern Sierra's had some snow along with other ranges around California City.
I forgot my camera.....................again................................
These were taken with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
It is cold as far as the desert goes. It was around 45 degrees with a strong wind from the Southwest.
I am so glad that I don't crew a jet anymore.

Vincent Lecavalier traded to Kings by Flyers

Just when I was really watching Jordan Weal play for the Kings after he was called up from the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League. Weal and the Kings 3rd round pick in the 2016 were traded to the Philadelphia Flyers.
In addition to Vincent Lecavalier, the Kings get defenseman Luke Schenn.

Fighting meth on The Fort Belknap Reservation

This was on the Facebook Page of The Havre Daily News which is the Hometown Newspaper.
The meth problem is wide spread on most reservations in the USA.
The members of Indian Reservations are trapped in a world of massive handouts, including the two checks per year for all members of Tribes.
First it was alcohol.
Now it's Meth.
It is a vicious circle at times.
It is so very sad to see this.
